Age Difference Calculator in Months
Compare two birthdates and see the age gap as total months  plus any remaining days after full months are counted.
When Months Are the Right Unit
Months sit between the broad sweep of years and the overwhelming detail of days  making them the most practical unit for many real-world needs.
Pediatricians track infant development in months, not years. Insurance underwriters price policies with monthly age bands. Parents of two children often describe the sibling gap in months ("they're 18 months apart"). This calculator puts the month count front and center.
The result shows the total number of whole calendar months between two birthdates and then lists any leftover days that don't form a complete month. Internally, months are counted using calendar-based subtraction  each month reflects its actual day count (28, 29, 30, or 31).
Month-Gap Questions
How is a "month" counted when months have different lengths?
A whole month passes when the same day-of-month is reached in the following calendar month. For example, January 15 to February 15 is one month, whether February has 28 or 29 days. Days beyond the last whole month are shown separately.
Why do doctors measure infant ages in months?
Developmental milestones cluster around month markers  sitting at ~6 months, walking at ~12 months, talking at ~18 months. Expressing ages in months during the first 2–3 years gives more actionable precision than years.
How does a month result relate to years?
Divide total months by 12 to get the year equivalent. For example, 67 total months = 5 years and 7 months. This page shows both the total month count and the year + month breakdown.
